Underwriting

Underwriting is a fundamental part of insurance. It is the underwriters who use their information gathering skills and knowledge to set the conditions, terms and price of insurance policies. To be effective an underwriter must fully understand the risks they handle. For this reason, the underwriting team at Crowe Livestock either have industry experience of livestock or join us with an appropriate degree, e.g. Animal Sciences, Equine Sciences or Agriculture.

Claims Handler

An ability to deal with claims efficiently and quickly is paramount to the reputation of the business. People only buy insurance to ensure that they are covered in the event of a loss. Again, a detailed understanding of the conditions set in the insurance policies combined with specific knowledge of the livestock involved is essential.

Information and Administration

‘You can’t manage what you can’t quantify’ is very true in business. The ability to record accurately the transactions of the company, in terms of income and volume, is imperative. The reports that are generated about the activities of Crowe Livestock form the basis of all strategic decisions. Strong IT skills and an analytical mind are key qualities for those team members responsible for producing the management information.

Graduate Training

We can offer a structured foundation training programme to familiarise a graduate in all areas of the business and to attain the Lloyds Introductory Test. At the end of the programme each individual is placed within the organisation according to their particular skills and aptitudes.

Our annual recruitment for graduates is every Autumn, however we’re happy to receive C.V’s all year round.

Reception and general office duties

We have a very small team of reception staff who take responsibility for the day to day office duties. Good telephone and interpersonal skills are essential, because the receptionist is often the first contact any client has with Crowe Livestock.
