Individual and tailored insurance for the Poultry industry.

Cover includes:

  • All Risks of Mortality including accident, sickness and disease, (but excluding named government slaughter diseases)
  • Restricted Perils (for example: fire, flood, storm etc)
  • Limited Theft and Unlawful Removal
  • Disease only insurance for parent and grandparent breeding stock. Insuring death and economic slaughter following positive testing for:
    • Mycoplasma Gallisepticum
    • Salmonella disease
  • Extensions:
    • Mechanical breakdown and power failure
    • Debris removal
    • Unforeseen heat stress
    • Transits: International or domestic
    • Day-old chicks
    • Hatchery to farm
    • Farm to slaughter house
    • Government slaughter: To pay the difference between government compensation and current market value for named diseases, for example:
      • Newcastle’s Disease
      • Avian Influenza
    • Loss of income
      • Broilers: to pay 20% of maximum value for up to 3 cycles following loss of or damage to poultry houses
      • Laying stock: to pay an indemnity based on loss of eggs following loss of or damage to poultry houses

Coverage will be subject to certain minimum standards for example bio-security, back up generators, alarms and communications.

Underwriters will always consider new risks and are able to provide bespoke insurance solutions in such cases, for example:

  • Economic slaughter as a result of Mycoplasma Gallisepticum and the loss of eggs.
  • Loss of profits for slaughter house/hatchery in the event that a government order for slaughter or movement restriction following Avian Influenza interrupts the normal operating throughput.
  • Loss of eggs and veterinary treatment extension providing coverage for birds which require veterinary treatment and also the resulting loss of eggs.
  • Property and liability risks.
